What we do.

Engaging our community to protect and improve our water resources.

  • Adams County Planting Partnership

A partnership among the Watershed Alliance, the Adams County Conservation District—and you!— the Adams County Planting Partnership’s mission is to get native trees and shrubs into the hands of Adams County residents who have some land (even just a backyard) and the ability to plant them.

  • Stream monitoring

We’ve been monitoring the health of several key Adams County streams for nearly 20 years. A growing team of committed volunteers gathers data on a number of physical and chemical measures on a monthly basis, gathering a body of data that has proven valuable for local and municipal bodies as they develop policy related to water use.

  • Pathogen testing

To get a snapshot of pathogen contamination in Adams County’s streams, last summer we gathered samples from 21 sites on 10 streams and had them analyzed for the presence of E.coli, a bacterium that often indicates the presence of pathogens harmful to human health.

  • Advocacy

We take an active role in advocating for Adams County’s water resources when issues and projects arise with potential impact on our waters.

  • Education

Much of wise water resource management depends on the everyday actions of everyday people. For this reason we provide helpful resources for folks who want to take steps to become more responsible stewards of their local water resources.
